Places to visit

Chatsworth House – Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. A great day out with house tours, marvellous gardens, a farmyard and adventure playground.

Haddon Hall – A lovely English Tudor and country house home to the Manners Family. Haddon has grand Tudor hall and Elizabethan gardens.

Sudbury Hall – a National Trust prperty is one of the country’s finest Restoration mansions with Grade I listed building status. You can visit the house, gardens and Museum of Childhood.

Matlock Farm Park – situated near Matlock with pigs, sheep, goats, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, red deer, poultry and small animals and an opportunity to feed and pet them.

Gullivers Kingdom – in the Derwent gorge above Matlock Bath is paradise for children aged 3 to 13, with rides and roller coasters.

Heights of Abraham – has caverns, exhibitions and a cable car ride from river level to 169 metres at the top station.

Alton Towers – the world famous theme park and water park.

National Stone Centre – very close to Hopton it’s a museum, an industrial heritage discovery centre and a Site of Special Scientific Interest with a focus on stone and quarrying.

Take a leisurely boat ride along the Cromford Canal.

Ride a tram at Crich Tramway Village or a steam train at Ecclesbourne Valley, WirksworthPeak Rail, Matlock or Midland Rail, Ripley.
