Shrovetide Football Match at Ashbourne – 28 Feb- 1 March
Held in and around the nearby town of Ashbourne the Shrovetide Football is a traditional, unconventional game played by the residents in teams related to the north and south of the town.

Chesterfield Festival of Cricket – 3-8 July

Buxton Festival – 7-23 July
A celebration of all things opera, music and literature set in the beautiful Peak District town of Buxton with it’s Victorian Pavillion Gardnes and the Georgian crescent.

A now well established, award winning, music festival less than 10 miles from Hopton.
Bakewell Show – 1st – 3rd of August
The Bakewell Show is almost 200 years old and features all manner of country side pursuits including farming, equestrian, gardening and much more!
Chatsworth Country Fair – 1-3 September
The Country Fair is one of England’s most spectacular annual outdoor events,with massed pipe and military bands, demonstrations and parades, hot air balloons, parachuting and over 300 varied trade stands and rural crafts make this a memorable event with something for everyone.
Wirksworth Festival – 8-24 September
A rural arts festival … just a couple of miles down the hill from Hopton. With performances and exhibitions there’s sure to be something to suit everyone!
