The Month of Art at Hopton Hall
Information For Artists

If you’re an artist wishing to participate in Hopton Hall’s Month of Art celebration, here’s all the information you need to know.

Entry

Entry is free for artists. Please complete the Registration Form below to register with the Hopton Hall Gallery Director. You can access the grounds of the Hall during the following times and may visit more than once.

Opening Times

Thursday – Sunday from Thursday, 2nd July to Sunday, 26th July 2026: 10:30 until 16:00 (Last admittance 15:00).

Subject Matter

Your subject matter should be inspired by or reflect an external aspect of Hopton Hall or its gardens – whether that be its wonderful flowers, trees or architecture.

Setting

You are invited to choose where you wish to set up around the site’s public areas. Please bring along your own equipment and supplies. If you would like to apply for a complimentary gazebo, these can be pre-booked, online, from the beginning of June onwards and are allocated on the day on a first-come, first-served basis.

Gazebos can be used for a variety of purposes including selling and demonstrating (see below), creating art, or just sheltering from inclement weather otherwise known as a British summer!

Please note: Due to the Peak District Artisans display, only a small selection of gazebos may be available for the final weekend.

Display of Artwork

Artists who are active on-site are also invited to display and sell their artwork at the event.

The gazebos will be pre-erected and secured to the ground alongside the footpath leading to the Walled Garden; they will be on the lawn to the front of the Hall, providing a wonderful view of the façade.

Each gazebo is 3m x 3m with dark grey walls; they can be fully closed or opened as you desire.  You will need to bring your own tables, chairs and displays.  Whilst there is no electricity to the gazebo site, there is commercial grade WiFi if you intend to take payments on the day.

Gazebo Booking will be available, on this page, from 1st June 2026.

Parking and Access
Ample free car parking is available on-site.  You will be able to drive quite close to the gazebos for unloading/loading if required. Alternatively, there is easy path access from the car park if you prefer to use your own trolleys.  Hopton Hall staff will be available to assist those with restricted mobility.

Timings
Artists can set up / be on-site from 9am each day.  In order to maximise viewing time for the public if you are displaying and selling, please be prepared to be on-site and “active” between the public opening hours of 10.30am - 4pm.  Artists may clear their materials between 4 - 6pm.  However, for those wishing to attend for two or more consecutive days, there is the option to leave materials/equipment/artwork in your booked gazebo.

Please note that whilst Hopton Hall is a secure site, no responsibility can be taken for your property; you must accept full responsibility for your own goods.

Additional Facilities
The newly refurbished Café at Hopton Hall and toilets are both within a few minutes’ walk of the gazebo site and the Walled Garden.  The café serves both hot and cold food and drinks, and a small selection of alcoholic beverages.

The Month of Art Competition
We really hope that you will enter your finished artwork into our competition. There are some great prizes to be won!  Entries need to be provided to the Hopton Hall Gallery Director, by 4pm, Friday, 24th July.

Entries will be displayed in a marquee over the final weekend of the event, with judging taking place by public vote throughout Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th.  All artwork will be considered in a single category, with the public simply voting for their favourite three pieces.

The presentation of prizes will be made at 3pm on Sunday, 26th July 2026.  The artist with the winning artwork receives first prize of £1,000, with their artwork put on display at one of Hopton Hall’s venues. 2nd and 3rd prizes of £250 and £100 respectively, will be in the form of vouchers for Turners Art Supplies.

All artists must collect their displayed work between 4-6pm on Sunday, 26th unless previously agreed with the Gallery Director.
